Cross Creek Blues Club
On Wednesday 4th March Bob Cooper- Grundy (best Bluesman this side of the Delta!) was joined by Kate Marshall and they shared with us a range of Americana Blues from its origins in the plantation fields, through Gospel and the Country Blues of the Mississippi Delta to the electric Blues of today.
April will see the return of “Jeep Road”, with Kapiti’s phenomenal Blues woman, Clare Christian, on vocals and guitar. She will be joined by her son Gabe Davidson on trumpet and Joe Callwood, who has been performing and teaching in the Wellington music scene for the past 15 years, as well as regularly touring New Zealand and Australia.
Joe has worked with the Syzygy Creative Music Ensemble, Zirkus Big Band, Arc Trio and Joe Callwood Quintet, as well as international artists such as Kris Wanders and William Parker. His recent projects include recording and touring with the group ‘Little Bushman’, who recently performed and recorded with the NZSO, and recording music for a film with composer John Psathas.
