Explanation

For the first three weeks of February my internet connection has been malfunctioning. While inward mail was being received I could not send E-mails. That it has taken so long to rectify the situation has been extremely frustrating. My ISP has been very reluctant to admit the fault and seemingly unable to correct it. Normal service has only been resumed by my changing ISP, and this took longer than I had hoped.

To the numerous contributors and enquirers who will be no doubt wondering why I have not confirmed receiving a contribution or replied to questions I can only apologise.

Three contributors to the February issue will also be wondering why the photos they submitted did not appear, however I could not send an explanation as I would normally have done. In each case the photos did not have enough resolution for the publisher to be able to use. – Of late we have been receiving a considerable number of photos with extremely low resolution.

This is probably a good time to remind contributors forwarding photos to do a quick check of their suitability before sending. The chosen photo’s strength will show up in the photo details on the screen as a number of KBs. If it is under 1,000 KB (sometimes stated as 1MB) chances are we will not be able to use it. Really good photos can be up to 3,000KB (3MB) or more.
