FIRE BRIGADE REPORT

Station Officer – EMT

Martinborough Volunteer Fire Brigade

Another busy month for the Brigade and especially our Medical Responders, we are a few calls short of 200 for the year so far, and the team welcomes Dylan Ross transferring from Lake Ferry into a Recruit Firefighter slot and Henry Carr joins as a Medical First Responder.

You might have seen us featuring in the Times Age feature that has been running, featuring the Wairarapa Brigades.

The days are getting longer and warmer, so more recreational activities are happening throughout  the district, so a reminder to look twice for Motorcycles, keep 1.5 metres from cyclists, slow down for horses and always wear a seat belt as you travel around, no matter how short the journey.

We hosted Greytown Brigade for Motor Vehicle Extrication training for our team plus Tora, Ngawi and Lake Ferry crews in preparation. Greytown operates the South Wairarapa specialist Rescue Tender, and there were some great leanings for us.

The Annual Foodbank appeal is on Wednesday 2nd November, thank you in advance for all the generosity the town exhibits, you hear our sirens out and about that night, and we love catching up with the kids.

November is going to be a busy month for us with Guy Fawkes, Toast Martinborough and of course supporting the Martinborough Fair.

If you are unsure about burning Rubbish/Pruning fires, Hangi, Incinerators and other outside fires, check it on the website : www.checkitsalright.nz

If you are interested in being part of the team, please contact our Chief Jake Hawkins directly by emailing – Jacob.hawkins@fireandemergency.nz. or better still pop on down and have a chat on Tuesday Training or see us at our soon to be announced Open Day.
