In business it’s about people, it’s about relationships and how we collaborate !

Communication is an essential aspect of everyday life and whether you realise it or not, we never stop communicating. This is especially true when it comes to business relationships and how we communicate with our stakeholders and clients.

The Association aims through its  RELATIONSHIP activities to grow collaborative relationships for the benefit of the South Wairarapa and our local members. Our region is made up of three unique towns each with its own drawcard. It is how we collaborate with those towns to bring us closer together, to learn from one another, to share problem solving,  to widen networks and to create organisational efficiencies.

In the South a common factor, albeit generalised, is that we share the same market in terms of our visitors. It’s key that we have goals that not only ensure business growth for our towns but also the South Wairarapa as a destination.

In Martinborough there are many event organisers responsible for drawing thousands of visitors to the town. The Association is keen to ensure the visitor experience reflects great offerings and service responses from our businesses. We are working to meet with all event organisers and Wairarapa Wines to get best alignment and outcomes for the event and business community.

We have started working more closely with Toast Martinborough and the Martinborough Fair Committee as a couple of examples. Both events have been affected by Covid-10 rules. We’re interested in sharing and learning from the impacts of that and the opportunities that arise.

Dark Skies and Matariki are other promotions and events where collaboration both within Martinborough and across the Region will be critical in showcasing these events and the Region.

Each year too we see more and more people attending events like The Jazz Festival and Cruise Martinborough all of which need a strong business community response. We will be reaching out to those organisations to grow our collaboration for the benefit of all.

Collaboration offers the opportunity to try and balance out the Martinborough calendar of events. Today we are pretty much a spring  – summer event town with fewer events in the late autumn – winter. So this point is paramount in our minds as we look to build a great winter experience in Martinborough.( we have a small team working on this now)
