Another good evening was had at our April dinner.

Our guest speaker was Sophie Cosford. Sophie is an experienced primary school teacher, with specialist knowledge in special needs teaching. She has extensive experience in the voluntary and community sectors. Her passion is in finding ways to support mothers and children within the community and around New Zealand.

Sophie has worked closely with the Red Cross to establish breakfast in schools. She has also co-funded meals for Mum, facilitating a platform for mothers receiving and donating meals and baking. The group now has over 17,000 members.

Sophie successfully ran the first year of Wairarapa shoebox Christmas ,providing community donated brand new toys to children in need, over 250 shoeboxes filled with toys were donated throughout the Wairarapa.

In 2019 Sophie launched Wairarapa Winter Jackets, matching donated good quality jackets, coats ,and knitting for those that need them at no cost.

A big thank you to Sophie who does a lot of fantastic work in our community.
