Library news

September 16, 2013 October 2013, Regular Features No Comments

The library staff have settled into the new library quite well. Overall we have had positive comments from customers about the location, warmth, cosiness and lovely windows to let in all that lovely sunshine we have been having.

Our Book Babies session has  been going well on Tuesday mornings, so well in fact that last Tuesday we had 14 little ones with mums/carers in our boutique children’s area – next week we may go outside into the Village Café Garden area if it’s fine.  The sound level is quite phenomenal especially when we were all singing ‘In the jungle, the mighty jungle’!

National Poetry day has just been and gone and we have a thoroughly interesting poem on our front window by John Ansell entitled “Trunks” – it’s quite amazing how many different trunks there are.

The OPAC (or public catalogue) has settled down now after some initial glitches. The website is http://ent.kotui.org.nz/client/wls/. It is easy to log in with your card number (put the B at the front of the number in, then the numbers following) and put your 4 digit PIN number in. If you don’t know your PIN or wish to check or change it please ring us 06 306 9758.  You can then check the items you have out or reserve books.

You can also renew items online, however do remember that the new system now charges a renewal fee on rental items.  So if you paid money when you took the  book or DVD out then you will be charged again on renewal.

Do come and check out our new books.  You can see a list online, but we also have new book covers up on display and keep them for a while in a folder so you don’t need to miss out on the latest book from your favourite author.  We look forward to seeing you soon.
