Local digital seniors cosy up to Heartland Hub

After 15 years working from a church hall, Digital Seniors Martinborough has moved to the Heartland Services hub in Jellicoe St.

The Digital Seniors coaches have been based at St Andrews Church Hall since 2009.

Coach Roger Fraser said the team will continue its free one-on-one support for digital devices on Thursdays, between 9.30 a.m. and 11.00 a.m.

Volunteer coaches Roger, John MacGibbon and Louise Lyster help locals _ aged 65 and over _ to  use mobile phones, tablets and laptops. 

The sessions include operating the digital devices and using them online for banking, electronic commerce, communications, etc. 

Most advice is given at the Thursday hub events, but coaches also help people in their homes and by phone.

Digital Seniors has operated in Martinborough since 2019 and has now delivered more than 500 coaching sessions. Digital Seniors hubs provide coaching services in towns throughout Wairarapa.

“It’s a big thank-you to St Andrews parish for giving us a home for our first five years,” said Roger Fraser. “Moving closer to town should help us reach more people and we’re looking forward to that.”
