Martinborough-Netball-Team-2015 Kia Ora, Kia Orana, Talofa Lava, Malo Ni and Hello

Firstly Martinborough Netball Club would like to acknowledge the support given by the late James Graham whom contributed to our new netball uniforms of which we have his name embedded in them. Certainly a great man and will be remembered for his community-spirited support and much more, our warm wishes to Rebecca, Jessica and family.

After a successful season last year, some new faces in the team, and again coached by the ever experienced Tai Pirato (TYRA) and a new committee in place for Martinborough Netball Club its been a great season this year.

In May we had a carwash/garage sale fundraiser held outside Keinzley Agvet and all funds raised from that went towards paying for netball subs this season and more recently we had our netball club fundraiser Quiz night in July which was held at the Martinborough Rugby Clubrooms and was a huge success. All funds raised went towards the support of netball resources for the club and support with the redevelopment project of the Tennis turf courts of which will become a multi sport use facility.
Martinborough Netball are excited about the project which will certainly benefit the netball club. So a huge thank you to all who came along to support our Quiz nite fundraiser and to the many sponsors who donated prizes. Special mention to Pierce Aaarsen, Heather McLaclans DAD, Casey Teofilo but also a great job done from all our netball members on what was a great night.
Chris Green won the “Netball Team Services” auction at our Quiz Nite fundraiser. The team kind did a “mucking in” at his house, weather wasn’t too pretty to start with but was a great day never the less. His gardens looked fabulous. Some of the girls found it quite therapeutic, so anyone that needs their gardens done the netball girls would gladly do it. So thanks to Chris and family

The netball season had its moments early on and we have now come to the end of the competition round for the grade. Tai has kept them busy so the team have certainly grown week in week out from when the season first started in early May. The team currently sit in first place in Premier 2 grade and as Tai keeps reminding the team the “basic fundamentals” will steer any team to great success so keep with the basics Marty Netball.

It is the business end of the season and netball finals are on 12th September – Martinborough Netball club will be there and if time allows we will see you there too.

There is also a NZ celebrity match being held on finals day and other entertainments so check out the Netball Wairarapa website for more information. (www.netballwairarapa.co.nz)
