News from First Church
After the success of the Midwinter Book Fair last Month, the First Church community continues to come together at friendly and thought provoking services each Sunday morning. One of the more modern hymns that we’ve been enjoying has these words of hope which capture this time of year, and prospect of spring to come:
In the bulb there is a flower,
In the seed, an apple tree,
In cocoons, a hidden promise
Butterflies will soon be free.
In the cold and snow of winter
there’s a spring that waits to be,
unrevealed until its season,
something God alone can see.
Looking ahead, to the more Spring-like month of October – The 10th October is a date to make note of as we now are beginning to plan for the traditional Kirk Fair in the Town Hall, with all the usual stalls – including produce, home baking, collectables, treasure trove, books, fashion accessories, a children’s stall and raffles. Mary Smith is the convener guiding the team of First Church supporters. Watch for posters and advertising.
