NEWS FROM FIRST CHURCH
Autumn Mini Market. We held our first Mini Market on a brilliantly sunny morning, Saturday the 26th March in the church hall, this proved to be a great success and raised over $2,000.00 towards the work of the church. Our thanks go to everyone for the many ways they contributed to making this a success, be it donating goods, baking, making jam and preserves, potting plants and many other ways, without this support we would not have been able to raise these funds.
A very excited Beth Curwen won the raffle of a huge basket of goodies and Anne & Richard Dodd won a beautiful plant for their garden. Congratulations to all three of you.
Accident at First Church. In the early hours of Sunday morning the 20th March a vehicle mounted the footpath in Jellicoe Street and travelled through the garden and came to a stop against the front buttress of the church building. We were pleased to learn that the driver only sustained minor injuries and the vehicle and the church building took the impact. The church’s insurers are assessing the damage.
Easter Services. Our services over the Easter period will be Good Friday the 15th April at 10am at First Church, 90 Jellicoe Street, Martinborough and Easter Sunday 17th April at 10am at Burnside Church, Lake Ferry Road, Pirinoa. Both services will be officiated by Rev Dr James Veitch. We look forward to you joining us for the services. On Easter Sunday we can meet at First Church at 9.15am and car pool down to Burnside.
