Under 9 JAB Team coached by Mike Edney won the Wairarapa Under 9 Grade.

Under 9 JAB Team coached by Mike Edney won the Wairarapa Under 9 Grade.

The year 1904 saw the birth of our Martinborough Rugby Club, which was accepted, as a Junior Club by the Wairarapa Rugby Union. Today we are still going strong with over 100 junior players and two strong senior sides.

As this season comes to a close we celebrate a fantastic season with great coaches and results of finals in most grades. A special mention to the Under 9 Team for winning their grade this year and the U10 team who have won the final in their grade 3 years in a row! Under 11’s came 3rd in their grade and Under 13’s came 5th out of eight team’s great results!

We all want to thank the coaches and volunteers that help on a Saturday and our Club delegate Craig Colton who has been very busy this year and done an amazing job.

Our open air community concert is back for another year due to popular demand! To be held on the 16th November 4pm – 8pm at our local Martinborough Rugby Club grounds. All funds raised are going towards the upgrade of our clubrooms. We were able to raise $7000.00 last year which is a good start and due to feedback being so positive we decided to do it again. It’s fantastic as we are not only securing the future of Martinborough Rugby but assisting other organisations as well. All while having a great time with our family and friends.

This year we have “Life in the Fast Lane” back, an Eagles tribute band and for those that missed our main event some said “They were as close as you get to the original.” For a double treat this year we also have another highly recommended band called “Way out west” who sing all the old favourites from Stevie Nicks to Roy Orbison and Johnny Cash just to name a few. We have all the kids’ entertainment back and the delicious food stalls. We are currently still looking for a few more stall holders. If you are interested please contact Nicholle 3068460.

Don’t be disappointed this year tickets will be on sale mid-September watch out for more details on Facebook.
