Please – Give us your news
We are fortunate to have wonderful contributors who regularly provide interesting articles for the Star. Feedback assures that these are read and greatly appreciated. What we are light on is general news.
Martinborough is the centre of a vibrant district with lots of interesting things going on. Our job is to spread the word on these – but just need you to tell us about them.
Local items of general interest are the life blood of a community newspaper. Something new to the area, special celebrations, unusual happenings, record events, inventions, people of interest, these are what really gives the paper a real local flavour. Please let us know if you are aware of anything of interest.
Not everyone considers themselves wordsmiths. If you would prefer our team member Chris Cassels will be happy to talk to you and get it down in words. Give her a call on: 306 8286 or 021 716 064 to arrange a time to chat.
Events to are always news. If you know of a coming event please let us know. How often do we hear “if only I knew that was on I would have gone to it”? The Star is ideal for alerting on your coming attraction – but we have to know about it. Reports on recent events are also always interesting so please send them in we, would love to hear from you.
To all the clubs and groups and organisations catering for the district’s various interests: Our readers would love to know what you are all doing.
Publicising your club’s activities also engenders interest and hence new members – and I am well aware that some clubs would love some new members. Chances are that there are people out there who have similar interests who are not aware of your club. So, come on secretaries, drop us a line on your club’s activities and let us make the introductions.
The Star team are keen to put out a really interesting Star each month, we rely on plenty of community input to achieve this. Contact me with your items and ideas on 3089 978 or beckett36@gmail.com I’d love to hear from YOU
Mike Beckett
