Public Meeting to Present the Proposal for Martinborough Town Hall & Community Centre

March 10, 2014 March 2014 No Comments

Public-meeting“It is potentially a very exciting time for Martinborough and we’re very much looking forward to the findings and recommended directions”. Town Hall consultation interviewee STAR November 2013.

The time has come for the countdown to begin to the date in April when the Martinborough Town Hall Working Group (MTHWG) together with the South Wairarapa District Council will unveil the plans for the proposed refurbishment and development of the Town Hall and adjoining site.

It seems a long time since March 2013 when professional fundraiser and leisure planner, Steve Bramley, was invited to share his vision for the development. Steve and his team, Murali Bashkar (architect) and Audrey McClean (analyst) began work on the project last August.

Following extensive community consultation, the team set to work on the feasibility and design concept for this project supported by a plan to finance it. Their proposal is now ready for public consultation.
Last November the MTHWG set up a Facebook site. This site has attracted more than 130 friends who are enthusiastic about the proposed development. Anecdotal evidence from conversations with members of our community suggests that there is a good deal of interest and support for the proposal.

Steve and his team have presented us with a compelling and sustainable proposal for the Town Hall site which will give us a valuable and user- friendly asset at the same time. We invite, indeed, urge you to view the proposal and have your say at a public meeting on Thursday, April 3rd – see advertisement for details.
