The star was set up with the express purpose of providing a parish pump style local news network. For this to work requires the input of the local people and particularly the various clubs and other organisations in the paper’s distribution area.

A glance through the other three South Wairarapa town’s community papers shows that organisations in those towns avail their community papers to promote their activities to a considerably greater extent than Martinborough ones do.

So, the call is out to all the local clubs, churches, groups, societies, associations, clusters or any other organisations out there – don’t be bashful. The local people are interested in what’s happening in their community and the Star offers space for your group to spread the message of your activities to 2,300 households every month – for absolute free!

Why would you not? Secretaries make a note , our deadline is the last Wednesday of each month. Or if you are too busy appoint a club publicity officer.
We also love good photos – but.

Unfortunately we haven’t been able to use many of the photos submitted as they are very low resolution and not suitable for newspaper reproduction.

Photos need to be at least 1MB (1,00KB) – good photos can be up to 3 –even or more. It is easy to check the KB number as it comes up when sending the photo by E-mail. Please check this number before pressing the ‘Send’ button. If the number is in KBs chances are we cannot use it.

The reasons a photo is low resolution is because it has been saved to the computer as a condensed file so that the photo does not take up so much room on the computer’s memory while still showing up OK on a screen.
The photo is ‘condensed’ by the removal of a considerable number of the pixels.
