SKYLINE CHALLENGE HAILED A SUCCESS

August 8, 2016 August 2016 No Comments

Skyline Challenge a successThe 2016 Skyline Challenge has again been hailed a success, with the Anzac weekend event attracting more people than ever before. We saw a 28% increase in numbers from last year – 219 participants in all.

The weather for the 2016 Skyline Challenge started out cold but soon warmed up, helped with the strenuous activities of our participants mountainbiking or walking over the course, appreciating the stunning views of Martinborough and lower South Wairarapa.

It was wonderful to see so many families and children take part this year. With a new 3km flat kids course, along with various biking and walking options, there were plenty of ways to appreciate the stunning views of Martinborough and lower South Wairarapa.

This Anzac Weekend event is becoming a recognised Martinborough community activity that needs to be put on your calendar of ‘must do’s’!

Next year we will look to build on the event further, providing some new course options to keep things fresh.

We’d like to take this opportunity to give a huge thanks to those that helped and donated to make the day a wonderful success namely:
John’s Way Road residents ; James Bruce of Puruatanga Farm; Charlie and Ange Cresswell of Huangarua Farm, and farm manager Toby; Mason and Linda Topp of Oystershell Farm; David Anderson of Fagan Motorcycles Masterton; Greg Childs –NZME; Media Works Wairarapa; Martinborough Motorcycle club; Duncan Forbes -‘Go Native’ energy fruit bars; Crystal from Wild Oats Cafe Carterton; Shane Cater; Fiona Tricker from Depict Design; David Bray; Te Kairanga/Martinborough Vineyard; James Colton; Scotty’s Meats; Craig & Rachael Colton; Patrick Nicholson; Sarah and Mark Green from The Martinborough Hotel; Susan Stephens – Leaders Real Estate; Pope & Gray Greytown; Pain & Kershaw; Tony McKinnon; Mountain Biker Magazine. And all the Martinborough Lions, friends and partners . Thank you to you all!

So hop on your bike and don your walking shoes in preparation for making this fun event your ’must do’ activity on your calendar during Anzac Weekend 2017.
