Something for every one

March 13, 2015 March 2015 No Comments

something-for-everyone You probably don’t need reminding, but just in case : It’s ‘Round the Vines time again’. The once a year opportunity to enjoy a walk through some of Martinborough’s famous vineyards. This year the event will be held on Sunday 15th March.

With four categories there is certainly one to suit every inclination. The majority taking part opt for the gentle 10km walk which takes you through the grape growing areas not usually open to the public including Ata Rangi, Alana, Martinborough Vineyard, and Palliser vineyards. If you prefer a longer work out there is a 21km walk traversing the same ground.

Entrants are well looked after with refreshment stations dotted along the way each offering chilled water, wine, water melon and grapes.

Are you a fitness fiend who prefers to hurry along for your exercise? For you there’s a 10 km run if you are wanting to test your fitness, and then the 21 km run for the really serious runners.

Some entrants like to make up groups, dress up and have some fun along the way. You are welcome to join in and make it a fun event.

As usual there will be dozens of excellent spot prizes drawn from the entrant’s allocated numbers. Everybody has an equal opportunity of a prize.

Here’s a great opportunity to invite friends or relations to come to Martinborough for the day – or make a weekend of it. There’s plenty of excellent accommodation available if required.

Assure them that the course is completely flat. Remember to mention the fun of dressing up, or for the more conservative, with the laughs provided by those who do.

For those requiring it Tranzit Coachlines is providing transport from Wellington and the Hutt Valley. To book phone 0800 471 227. For further Round the Vines information: www.roundthevines.org.nz
