Thank you John
Not many, if any, would be brave enough to put up their hand and agree to take on a job as convenor of the Martinborough Friendship Club so as it wouldn’t fold up. That’s just what John Lace did when the previous committee after serving for twenty five years retired on grounds of age and health issues becoming evident.
The club is important to the many of the members who eat on their own and meeting once a month are able to have company and share a meal.
Anne Egerton, Wendy Kevis and Carol Southee have supported John. Meanwhile Carol is now resident in Wanganui and Maureen Connor has taken her place.
For five years the club has been functioning under John’s care with some changes taking place. So often John has been the only male with the many females.
John, coming up eighty three this year, has chosen to step back to spending his pastime building a boat out of steel. He previously built a boat of fibreglass.
Thank you John, from all at the Friendship Club.
