Thank you
A Big Thankyou From Dame Malvina Major: Fundraising Concert Sunday 27 November at The Cabbage Tree Vineyard
Dame Malvina Major was delighted to be back in Martinborough supporting the five singers who performed on Sunday to raise funds for her Foundation. Tickets sold out two weeks before the concert so, needless to say, the fundraiser was an unqualified success raising $6500.
The concert, too, was an unqualified success – “What a wonderful group of talented youngsters”, “a truly splendid concert”, “I so enjoyed listening to those amazing young opera singers”, “we shall come again”…are typical of the many expressions of approval that these aspiring opera singers, four sopranos and a baritone, attracted following their performance.
It was to be expected that these singers would give stellar performances having finished their undergraduate studies; Katherine McIndoe was a 2016 Dame Malvina Scholar, James Henare and Olivia Sheat have been awarded Dame Malvina Major Scholarships for 2017, Emily Mwila was a semi finalist in this year’s Lexus competition and Georgia Jamieson Emms is completing a Master’s degree in performance. They were accompanied by Adam Gordon, Head of Music at Rathkeale College.
The Wellington Committee of the Dame Malvina Major Foundation is truly appreciative of the support for this fundraiser from the predominantly Wairarapa audience.
