The silly season provided us with plenty of opportunities to celebrate here at Wharekaka.
The Trust Board held their annual BBQ which was a night of fun and frivolity that saw the residents hit the dance floor to the wonderful tunes of Mr Lance Naysmith.

We also held a very special pre-xmas lunch complete with beautiful table decorations, bubbly and a special visit from the man in the red suit who bought all manner of wonderful gifts.

On Saturday, February 28th 2015 five of Wellington’s newest craft beer breweries will bring their finest ales to this year’s Greater Wellington Brew Day in Martinborough, to be held. 2015 will be the third time BrewDay has been held and is a continuation of the region’s reputation as the craft beer capital of New Zealand.

Choice Bros, 9 Barn Yard Owls, Tiamana, Wild and Wooly Beers and Duncan’s Brewing Co will be serving new releases at the annual craft beer festival in Martinborough.

Kerry Gray, director at Choice Bros, a Brooklyn brewery says “I am a firm believer that festivals are a time to have fun and release one off interesting beers that you can not buy regularly,” says Kerry. “We’re trying to bring back traditional styles with a modern twist and use interesting ingredients that make people question ‘What is beer?” … Continue Reading

You are invited to meet actors from the Greytown Little Theatre reading poems from the World Wars of the 20th Century and to listen to the Featherston Gentlemen’s choir singing songs sung in the trenches. It is one hundred years since New Zealanders met their death at Gallipoli in the Dardanelles known in ancient Greek times as the Hellespont – Sea of Hell.
