Men’s Shed

February 9, 2016 February 2016 Comments Off on Men’s Shed

It will be a busy year for the Martinborough Mens Shed. The temporary Mens Shed behind the i-Site on Kitchener Street is open two mornings a week from 10am to noon Wednesdays and Saturdays. Some community projects are being worked on as well as individual items. Members of the community are invited to stop by and see what is happening or bring along something that perhaps the members could repair. Donations of workshop tools, machines, gardening equipment and other spare items will be gladly collected and greatly appreciated.

Members had an opportunity to walk through the old courthouse recently which was followed by a BBQ in the back garden. It was great to see over 40 members present and it was a good chance to toss around some ideas of how to approach the task ahead on both the inside and outside of the building.

The Shed is planning to have a stall at the old courthouse on Cork Street during the March Fair Day to sell items produced by members and spare equipment. Stop by and see what is on offer.

Great health results from what we eat, how we move and think, along with periods of rest and rejuvenation. … Continue Reading

Sole food
How about wearing odd shoes for a day – we had a great opportunity on 11th September to raise money for Camp Quality by wearing odd shoes.  Unfortunately I forgot about it and just had my usual unusual shoes on.  It did make me think about what other shoe days might be around though and several popped up.

There is “Two different coloured shoes day” on 3 May, “Wear brown shoes day” on 4 December, “Put on your own shoes day” (perhaps more for kids) on 6 Dec, “Red shoe day” on 25th July  and “One day without shoes day” on 21 May.  … Continue Reading

Golf pro-am success _ without clubhouse

By Karen Stephens A record field of 172 players, including 43 professionals from New Zealand and Australia, battled light winds, warm temperatures and even light early-morning fog at Martinborough golf’s 2024 CER Electrical and Holmes Construction pro-am on February 1. At least that was the range of excuses for some …
