St John say thanks.

June 13, 2012 June 2012 Comments Off on St John say thanks.

At their 2nd May Wednesday Divisional night St John Youth Martinborough Divisional held a presentation to thank Hugh & Jill Hunter of Hunter’s Martinborough Shuttles in for all of the support they have given the Division.
Hugh and Jill have supplied their shuttles and bus to St John Youth on many occasions for various events at minimal cost. In addition to this they supplied a bus to attend the ANZAC Day parades in Martinborough, Featherston and Greytown at no cost at all! This has been such a great help and the Division really appreciate this and everything they do forfor the Division. !
Josh Holman, our District Youth Manager, along with Emily Draper and Sarah Philip, two of St John cadets, made the presentation of a new First Aid Kit for them to use for their business Our Area Committee Chairman, Bill Stephen, also attended.

World Blood Day

June 13, 2012 June 2012 Comments Off on World Blood Day

The world’s largest drop of blood was formed on a ski field in Korea on February 23rd this year. Don’t worry, it was only an image formed by 3,000 students dressed in red, standing in the snow.
It will be summer in Korea on the official international Blood Day of June 14th so the alternative winter day was selected for maximum effect and photo opportunity.
The students also formed the letters of the word ‘Heroes’, which is the 2012 theme for World Blood Day.
NZ Blood has chosen to collect in Martinborough on World Blood Day, which makes the ‘P and K Blood Day’ more special than usual. Blood donor ‘Heroes’ will be treated with the usual delicious baking from the P&K Deli, free Medici espresso coffee and more. David Kershaw is keen to get the best turn out ever- which is a challenge with winter sniffles.
If you haven’t already signed up to be a Hero and save lives by ‘putting the needs of others above your own’, please contact the team at P&K to register and you will be allocated a time that suits to reduce any waiting. However, it has been noted by the chat and laughter at the Town Hall that any waiting can be rather pleasurable during this special community day.

Bailey Hudepohl, Liam Heard, Etosha Shaw and Michael Blake move across to defend against the attacking Featherston Firebird player..

This is the Martinborough Pumas first season and the team have been improving as each week passes – they play 3 games each Saturday morning and are competing against teams from Featherston, Greytown and the Martinborough Cougars.
Bailey and Joel have both scored goals for us so far this season and it won’t be long before the rest of the team will be doing so as well, as they are enthusiastic about playing (and sometimes hard to get them off to bring another player on!). … Continue Reading
