Inner Wheel club South Wairarapa

June 8, 2020 June 2020 Comments Off on Inner Wheel club South Wairarapa

Like members of other service clubs, Inner Wheel prides itself in its productivity to benefit our communities. Because Covid 19 has disrupted us all this month I will give an overview of activities carried out in 2020 rather than solely in May. After all there is only so much one can write about knitting.

This year has seen us catering for the Rotarians at the Martinborough Fair, collecting, washing, sorting and distributing bras here and overseas, and knitting for babies in Australia who have been affected by the huge fires. Some of us are amazing cooks, unlike me whose scones were not required this year. No I’m not miffed as I have had a longstanding cough and coughs are definitely not PC, especially at the moment!

Doreen Badger’s team did a great job as usual so special thanks go to her, Kathleen Rushworth and Liz Poynter for their early shopping and sandwich making, and much more. Thanks also to the rest of the team for their contributions of product, time and donations. Alma Parr did invaluable work arranging for four boxes of lovely second hand, freshly washed bras to be sent to the Solomons, as well as delivering one box each to Dress for Success and Whai Ora. … Continue Reading

JIM 2020 Festival Postponement

June 8, 2020 June 2020 Comments Off on JIM 2020 Festival Postponement

It is with great sadness that we are not proceeding with the 2020 Jazz in Martinborough festival this year due to the Covid-19 crisis.

The restrictions around travel and public gatherings, and the uncertainty for our sponsors, makes the conditions for planning to stage an event simply too challenging to overcome.

We will keep in touch with our sponsors, venue partners and musicians so we can stage a fantastic 10th festival at another time.

Our hearts go out to the jazz musicians, technicians and the many local bars, cafes and restaurants who are the soul of our festival.

We will watch developments closely and reach out so you can be part of any new plans.

Golf pro-am success _ without clubhouse

By Karen Stephens A record field of 172 players, including 43 professionals from New Zealand and Australia, battled light winds, warm temperatures and even light early-morning fog at Martinborough golf’s 2024 CER Electrical and Holmes Construction pro-am on February 1.
