Change of deadline

Commencing with the next ( November) issue the Star’s advertising and copy deadline will be brought forward by three days – to 4pm on the last Wednesday of each month. This has been done to ensure an early as possible a delivery day each month.

The deadline and delivery dates for the following Star issue will be published on page two. Please be aware of this date as adverts or copy can not be accepted after the deadline.

The deadline for the November issue is Wednesday October 31st with the Star’s delivery being from Saturday 10th November

Advertising rates rise

Regrettably, to ensure the Star’s continuing viability, it has become necessary to make a small increase in the Star’s advertising rates – the first such rate rise since the Star’s inception five years ago.

Friday 21 September was Loud Shirt Day. Loud Shirt Day celebrates and fundraises for the Cochlear Implant Programme. Some children who are deaf can benefit from cochlear implants so they can hear. Loud Shirt Day was celebrated at Kahutara School.

Olivia Clark has bilateral cochlear implants (two) and attends Kahutara School. Olivia gave a speech to her school about cochlear implants and how they help her hear. She explained how she needed surgery and a device was implanted into her head and 22 hearing electrodes placed in her cochlea.
