Council looking for feedback
South Wairarapa District Council has released an engagement document which summarises the proposed priorities for the next Annual Plan. Council is now looking for feedback on ratepayer’s priorities for this Annual Plan
The document can be found on the Council’s website .
More engagement will be held around the district this month to discuss these priorities with our Mayor and Councillors. Details of these opportunities will be placed on our dedicated Annual Plan page (https://swdc.govt.nz/consultation/annual-plan-2022-23/).
The Annual Plan engagement document lays out Council’s key priorities for the coming 2022/23 financial year. It gives a breakdown of the costs involved and provides an update on what has been achieved to date in this financial year.
The Annual Plan is an important document because it helps set the rates levels for the coming year and provides a check and balance that we are sticking to the goals of the 10-year Long Term Plan (LTP).
That plan was drawn up in consultation with the public in 2021, and it is reviewed every three years in case new issues or opportunities arise. This is year 2 of the LTP and as the plan does not differ significantly, we are not repeating the consultation process, but we do want to have your feedback.
To help ratepayers gauge what their individual rates are likely to be for the next year, we have also created a rates estimator (https://swdc.govt.nz/services/rates/rates-estimator/). This excludes the rates set by GWRC – please visit their website for more.
Feedback can be given online via the “Annual plan 2022/23” page on our website. Those who prefer to write their feedback can find a form on the back of the pullout and returned or posted to the Council offices or its libraries.
Public engagement closes on 30 May. The plan is set to be adopted on June 30.
