Considine Park

Over the winter months you will start of see some activity around the park.  Firstly the old Pony Club building has been purchased by the Martinborough Cricket Club and will be getting a much needed spruce up with repairs and paint.  This will be moved to a new location in the park, which is approximately 10meters from the end of the camping ground.

Then along the path from the end of the camping ground through to the newly planted cherry trees will be 5 Pyrus Calleryana “Aristocrat”(ornamental pear) trees. These have very small pears in the summer which the birds love and then the stunning leaves of orange, yellow and red in the autumn.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Martinborough Lions Club members for laying the extension to the limestone path.  They will be completing this through to the current entrance ways into the park and then the path will be rolled to compact the limestone.

Four Pin Oaks will be planted along Princess Street to fill in the gaps – this will make a lovely row of Pin Oaks.

It is lovely to see so many people using the park whether it is the exercise equipment, walking, walking their dog, resting on the seat or playing cricket.  If you haven’t been for a while, then come along and see what has been achieved it is a great community asset.

End of the Triennium

This will be our last column in the Star for this triennium as nominations open for Local Body Elections on the 15^th July 2022 and close on the 12^th August 2022 with the election date of the 8^th October 2022.

If you are interested in standing for Mayor, Councillor or Community Board, we encourage you to do so and if you would like to talk to us, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you.

Thank you all for your support, encouragement, interest, and suggestions throughout our term in office, at times it has been lots of reading and stressful, but overall, it has been a real pleasure to be part of a vibrant community and to see projects and work programmes coming to fruition.
