From the Mayor
Local body elections are now behind us and the South Wairarapa has a largely unchanged council team to navigate the next three years. This I think recognises the integrity and hard work of the councillors you have elected.
We do welcome two new members, Councillor Colin Olds from Featherston and Councillor David Montgomerie from Greytown. It is always good to have fresh ideas and new enthusiasm in any organisation which I’m sure we’ll see from our newest members. They do however have big shoes to fill left by departing Councillors Mike Gray and Porky Sexton who served their district very diligently for a good many years.
South Wairarapa District Council has also adopted its Annual Report which is its statement of performance for the last financial year. It is always pleasing to receive a clean audit but this year it was doubling pleasing to note the accuracy of the budgeting and the diligence of the council staff in keeping to those budgets.
South Wairarapa District Council remains in a strong financial position and is well placed to tackle the challenges of the next three years.
