Martinborough Golf Report

After all the rain over the last few weeks the course is looking stunning and has dried out incredibly quickly.

We are fast approaching our busiest time of year with green fees increasing every weekend making booking a tee time essential.

The numbers playing Grumpies on a Tuesday are slowly increasing with over 30 out playing each week.  Winners over the last month have been Jason Shaw (twice), Pete Halstead and Brent McKinlay.  Twos have gone to Pete Price (3), Malcolm Wood (2), Raymond Matthews, Andy Morison, Pete Halstead, Alan Isaac, Tony Taylor, Brent McKinlay, Seamus O’Sullivan, Brian Russo, John Warner, Troy Shaw and Richard Thompson.

At the end of last month we hosted the Ladies Wairarapa 4BBB with 25 pairs competing.  The winners of the best gross were Philippa Smith & Amy Prince 78, Sereana Phillipps & Brenda Blatchford 84, Kay Wall & Fiona McBride 85 and Lorraine Inglis & Jo Philps 86.  Nett winners were Nicola Warren & Sarah Broughton 64, Sarah Monaghan & Bernadette Pither 67, Carol Parkinson & Emily Loughnan 67 and Jo Loe & Karen Shaw 68.  Nearest the pins went to Ju Allen #6, Lorraine Inglis #8, Carol Drink #12 and Lorraine Inglis #16.  Twos went to Mariana McDermott, Lorraine Inglis and Jo Loe.

Over the last few weeks the 9 holers have been playing their club championship rounds with the finals being played later this week.

The 18 holers have also been playing club championships with the finals being played on Saturday 5th November.  For those not playing club champ matches, club competitions have been played with winners being Sandra Petersen, Nicola Warren and Marilyn MacKenzie.  Twos have been noticeable by their absence!!

Thursday Club winners have been Glen Schofer, Andy Morison, Shayne Hammond and Bob Schofield.  Twos have gone to Rob Lopez (2), Glen Schofer (2), Jason Shaw (2), Peter Schenk (2), Sandra Petersen, John Thomson, Nick Morison, Wayne Wright, Chris Ranish, Tora Boyne, Nick Allen and Andy Morison.

At the beginning of October we were due to host the Mens 54/36 Hole Open but due to copious amounts of rain this had to be cancelled.

Recent weekend winners have been John Warner, Jason Shaw, Troy Shaw, Marilyn MacKenzie and Steven Croft.  Twos have gone to John Warner (2), Shayne Cater (2), Brent McKinlay, Glenn Harper, Troy Shaw, Robin Brasell, Peter Schenk, Brett Abercrombie, Rob Lopez, Alec Dondertman and Karen Stephens.

A couple of weeks ago we hosted the Eastwood Motor Group Lamb & Chardonnay Ambrose.  The winners were George Kirk, Brock Shute, Philippa & Andrew Smith with a nett 57, 2nd Seanoa Isaac, Duncan Didsbury, Blake Walker and Russell Hight 57.5, 3rd Jason Shaw, Brent McKinlay, Jack Allen and Josh Hawkins 58.12, 4th Alex Walters, Owen Lloyd, Tai Walters, Sam Iraia 58.25, 

Next month we have Club Championship finals, Lady Stout against Royal Wellington, Bidwill/Leckie Cup against Royal Wellington, Murray Halberg Day, 36 Hole Mixed 4Somes and Shoot Out final, so a busy few weeks ahead.
