Martinborough in Summer Captured in Pictures

April 18, 2016 April 2016 Comments Off on Martinborough in Summer Captured in Pictures

Martinborough-in-summer Launched last year to showcase our region in summer, Martinborough Village’s Summer Pix competition has again been a great success. In the golden summer we have enjoyed this year the opportunities for unique and striking photos were abundant and over 300 entries were submitted by people who took up the challenge to enter their favourite shots. This year entrants were able to upload directly to the Martinborough Village website and Trish Higginson says that “ in the last 30 days there were 15,583 page views and 1250 people interacted with the site”. The strength of this competition is its focus on “behind the scenes” images of our region and what it has to offer at a very individual and personal level. The simple brief of summer vibe was interpreted in many fascinating and diverse ways, which made the judges’ task a challenging one. … Continue Reading

Martinborough Ladies Hockey Club

April 18, 2016 April 2016 Comments Off on Martinborough Ladies Hockey Club

The Martinborough Ladies Hockey Club recently held its AGM at the Pukemanu, which was well supported. The club is again entering one team into the Wairarapa Hockey Association Competition this year. After a very successful 2015 season for Martinborough, in which we won Women’s 3 division, the team was willing to step up into the Women’s 2 division this year. However, as Wairarapa Hockey has a total of 12 teams for both grades, they are looking to have grading games for the first 11 weeks, and then split 6 teams each into a Women’s 2 and 3 grade. So there is a real incentive for the team to play well early in the season in order to progress into Women’s 2.
We are very fortunate to secure fantastic sponsorship this year from E10, the new Pukemanu Bar & Eatery for a flashy set of team shirts and to assist with hefty affiliation fees. Look out for us!

The team is always looking for experienced hockey players. If you have any queries about Martinborough Ladies Hockey, please contact Honor Clark on 3088575.
We look forward to another season of fun and fitness.
