The importance of vaccinating your pets

November 18, 2016 November 2016 Comments Off on The importance of vaccinating your pets

Vaccinations are used to prevent animals, and people, from getting serious, sometimes life-threatening, contagious diseases. They are highly effective and in the majority extremely safe.
We encourage vaccinations as part of your pet’s preventative healthcare. However we try to minimise the amount of vaccination, while still maximising the cover they provide. To this end we use the best vaccines available that provide the longest proven duration of immunity.
We also perform an annual health check with vaccinations to ensure that everything else is fine with your pet and they are as healthy as can be when they receive the vaccination so their immune system will maximise the benefit from it.
Discuss this with your vet, taking into account variables such as where you live, your pet’s health and age, and her contact with other animals.
With Christmas around the corner it is also a good idea to make sure your pets vaccinations are up to date if you plan on using boarding kennels, or if you are planning for your pet to travel with you. Ideally a minimum of two weeks prior to going as they take time to be effective. Either way it’s important that they are covered.

Toy Library

November 18, 2016 November 2016 Comments Off on Toy Library

The Pre Loved Toy Sale was a success and although a little quieter than expected for a long weekend Saturday ourselves and the kids who had sale tables all did well and thought it was a great day. Toy library cleared out some very pre loved toys and with the raffle we made $237 which will mean some cool new toys can be purchased for the Toy Library.
Thanks again for the support for the raffle from local business P&K, Ventana, D’Vine, Columbo, Neighbourhood Cafe, Mint & Finom Catering. Our winners Marta and Rebekah were very happy with their prizes. All in all a successful day.
We have decided to push our Teddy Bear’s picnic out till next year so will keep you updated on that after the festive season. See you soon at Toy Library to check out those new toys or at the movie sessions on the last Wednesday of the month.

What will happen to the playground?
A few people have asked about playground arrangements during the build. The good news is that much of the existing playground will be unaffected, although a couple of pieces of play equipment will be moved. The construction site will be securely fenced allowing continued use of the playground throughout. The large shade structure will be relocated to another council reserve within the Martinborough Ward. … Continue Reading

November 18, 2016 November 2016 Comments Off on WHAREKAKA NEWS

wharekaka-newsThis month seems to have really flown by.
Residents have been out and about and really enjoyed luncheon at one of the Auxiliary member’s homes.

We are looking forward to the Cook Book ‘Tastes from Martinborough’ launch later this month.
The book can be ordered at the Wharekaka reception where a copy is on display, it looks great! All proceeds are going to Wharekaka Rest Home Hospital Level Care fund.

We joined in with a group at the R.S.A in Carterton to listen to Lance Naysmith play. A Kapa Haka was performed by Ideal Services which was very enjoyable.

Our residents are so lucky to have the Martinborough School’s New Entrance class come for regular visits and read to us. The interaction between young and old is great to see and what community is really all about.
Bell Street Kindergarten early learners keep us well entertained too. … Continue Reading
