Skyline Challenge Mountain Bike Ride Returns to Martinborough

It will have been 7 years, but we’re back – bigger, brighter and better than ever with a Mountain Bike Ride in Martinborough,” says Martinborough Lions President Graeme Thomson.  “Lots of people have told us they want a mountain bike ride in Martinborough and miss the earlier version, so we are responding to an obvious need.”

The course has stood up very well during the month to the severe wind with very little damage but a major clean-up. Some courses in other areas have not been so lucky.

October has been a busy month for the club which commenced on the 5th with the Men’s Open. The new format of either playing 72 or 36 holes attracted a good field and the tournament proved to be a resounding success. The 36 hole Wairarapa Mixed Foursomes incorporating AB Martin Cup was held a week later and the winners were George Kirk and daughter Philippa. Murray Halberg (Eagles Day) was held on Saturday the 19th and attracted several Eagles from around the Wellington area. … Continue Reading
