October 14, 2013 October 2013, Sports Comments Off on South Wairarapa Tramping Club

Now that Spring has arrived the club’s weekly trips are again ranging further in anticipation of warmer, if not more settled weather.  Recent trips have included the tracks in and around the Kaitoke Waterworks, a loop around Hinewaka Station and the Kourarua Dam (Gladstone), Cape Palliser Lighthouse to the Stone Wall, and Mikimiki to Kiriwhakapapa and return. … Continue Reading

Bill and his very special birthday cake.

It has been a very busy month at the club with groups playing from all over NZ. A group of eight from Auckland fell in love with Martinborough and could not believe how quiet things were here. A group from the Manawatu played the course for the very first time as well as a couple from Cromwell.
Several trees were lost after the recent violent wind-storm but the club’s many volunteers helped Darren get the course back in tip-top shape. Thank you to Ali Holmes, Ro Griffiths, Bill Jones, Mike Hatrick, Doug Ferguson, Trevor Petersen, Nick Allen and Garry O’Dwyer. The new tee signs have also been put in place and look rather impressive and very professional. … Continue Reading

It is wonderful to be involved with a club where members step up to the mark and I salute you. Chris Cole, Malcolm Wood, Mike Hatrick, Doug Ferguson, John Slater, Ali Holmes and Ro Griffiths to name just a few have been volunteering their time to assist Scott in keeping the course at its absolute best.

The Grumpy’s are without doubt the happiest when a jug is won although lately this has not been the case and Rick Hargreaves has won the comp for the last two weeks in a row. … Continue Reading

Golf pro-am success _ without clubhouse

By Karen Stephens A record field of 172 players, including 43 professionals from New Zealand and Australia, battled light winds, warm temperatures and even light early-morning fog at Martinborough golf’s 2024 CER Electrical and Holmes Construction pro-am on February 1. At least that was the range of excuses for some …
