December 16, 2014 December 2014 Comments Off on Thanks

We would like to take the opportunity of this final edition of another busy year to acknowledge all the people who have helped make the Star possible.

Our loyal advertisers. Production of the Star requires a considerable amount of cash, it is the advertisers who provide this. Please show your appreciation by supporting them.

Our regular contributors who each month send in the pieces which keeps the Star informative and interesting; Mayor Adrienne Staples, Shirley Nightingale, Bev Dobson, Jemma Low, Mate Higginson, Kevin Campbell, Ric Geisler and members of the Community Board. Thanks too to all the secretaries who regularly send in their club and community reports. And indeed all who send in news items during the year. You are all appreciated , keep it coming.

A big vote of thanks to our loyal delivery people who cheerfully, regardless of the weather, pop the Star in the letter boxes. There would be no point in producing the Star if we did not have this reliable delivery system.

Many thanks to you all – the team.

South Wairarapa Tramping Club

November turned out to be tempestuous month and several trips were modified or postponed until the weather settles down. Nevertheless, the club managed some worthwhile trips.

On 25 October nine members enjoyed a fine weather walk on the Hutt River Trail (Te Marua, Totara Park and Akatarawa). The trip confirmed members’ views that the Upper Hutt Valley offers some excellent walking opportunities.
On 1 November seven people completed the Mt Kaiparoro circuit (Tararuas, Mt Bruce vicinity) in marginal weather. Despite this the trip afforded some excellent views. … Continue Reading

South-Wairrpa-Rotary-Club-The start of November saw the running of our new project, the Martinborough Charity Fun Ride. What a great event it is, we had approximately 350 riders of all ages competing on one of two courses aiming to achieve some personal goals. Unfortunately the wind didn’t help in allowing any record times to be set, but overall an excellent day was had by all. Many thanks go out to not only the riders for making it such a great event but also to Geoff and Jan Lankow who having run this event for 20+ years did a great job in bringing us up to speed. … Continue Reading

Golf pro-am success _ without clubhouse

By Karen Stephens A record field of 172 players, including 43 professionals from New Zealand and Australia, battled light winds, warm temperatures and even light early-morning fog at Martinborough golf’s 2024 CER Electrical and Holmes Construction pro-am on February 1.
