No Longer Waiting
“Ladies in Waiting” was performed by the Martinborough Little Theatre Society in 1956 in the Martinborough Town Hall to great acclaim. Now Our Grand Old Lady, the Martinborough Town Hall is no longer waiting as renovations to the town hall get well underway.

During this first phase, walls in the Green room are being stripped down to bare bones. The main auditorium is undergoing similar treatment. And the dirt is flying as floors are being dug up to get down to the foundations.

With an aim of reaching 100% of the earthquake strengthening code no anticipated performance will ever be able to be considered quite so earth shattering again. Not even the top brass competing in a rousing jazz festival. … Continue Reading

The Martinborough Star

The Martinborough Star has been published under it’s current guise since 2007. It is carrying on the name of an illustrious predecessor which was published between 1904 and 1962. The original Star was a four page broadsheet (the size of the Dominion Post) which was published on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Postal service hours extended

Martinborough Healthcare (next to Scott’s Butchery) announced that due to the change in pharmacy service it has been decided to close from mid March. There will be a continued home delivery service to the many loyal customers and the possibility of a drop-of box in Martinborough is being looked into. Prescriptions may be faxed to Lang’s Pharmacy in Featherston who will organise a suitable time for the prescription’s delivery.

P&K Foursquare have taken over the Postal Services which will be migrating across to their premises in mid March.Hours of service will increase, the new hours being 9am to 6pm six days a week for full international postage. All basic postage bags and accessories will be on sale between 7am and 8 pm seven days a week.

“We are happy to take on the postage service for Martinborough and would like to thank Martinborough Health Care for their many years of serving the town’s postage requirements. We look forward to continuing the offer of a postage service going forward” said Conor Kershaw from P&K.
