Our spirits are rising as the sunny days arrive and the temperature goes up. We have finished our Winter children’s reading programme with a party and impromptu dance outside in the courtyard. Thank goodness not many adults were around to see the Librarian’s Dance of Silliness but the children had a good laugh.
So with the last Winter event now over, we can get started on Spring. There are lots of beautiful and informative gardening books and magazines ready and waiting here. Nature seems to think it is time to procreate so if you want to know how to home rear pigs, chickens, Llamas or even quails we can find the information you need while the time is right. … Continue Reading

Meet your fire fighters

Meet-your-fire-fighters Brad Aldridge
Our newest firefighter is Brad Aldridge who completed the 7 day firefighter training course in Rotorua in August. The course tested the skills learned in the 9 months intensive training here in Martinborough Brigade. Brad is now fully certified to wear breathing apparatus and enter a burning structure with an experienced partner.

Raised in Whitby, Brad went to college in Upper Hutt and spent weekends on his Dad’s sheep and cattle farm out in Ruakokoputuna. After school he started work as a builder’s helper and is currently completing his apprenticeship. … Continue Reading

Mindfood-2015-Award LOT EIGHT confirmed its standing as a leading artisan producer at the MiNDFOOD Artisan Producer Awards 2015 in Wellington earlier this month when they were announced as the winner of the Emerging Exporter Award and a finalist for the Artisan Producer Award.

MiNDFOOD editor-in-chief, Michael McHugh summed up the judging panel’s observations by saying that they were impressed with Lot Eight’s business objectives which included focusing on retaining quality and bringing that quality to local and offshore customers instead of looking for rapid expansion. Their commitment is reflected in decisions to turn away from opportunities for rapid expansion to take a long term approach to export that builds on relationships and high personal levels of service extending to the careful selection of distributors in overseas markets. … Continue Reading

Firstly Martinborough Netball Club would like to acknowledge the support given by the late James Graham whom contributed to our new netball uniforms of which we have his name embedded in them. Certainly a great man and will be remembered for his community-spirited support and much more, our warm wishes to Rebecca, Jessica and family.
