Homework Club Calls for Volunteers

September 16, 2013 October 2013 Comments Off on Homework Club Calls for Volunteers

Do you have a free hour on a weekly, fortnightly, or monthly basis to help children learn at our local Homework Club?
Last year, following the success of the Martinborough Breakfast Club the Homework Club was established by education professional and Martinborough local Samantha Venning. The purpose of the Club is to support children with homework assignments and to enhance their enjoyment and academic achievement.

GETTING READY FOR ROSES

September 16, 2013 October 2013 Comments Off on GETTING READY FOR ROSES

getting-ready-for-roses_webAnybody who has lived in town for at least a year will know about the ‘famous’ annual MARTINBOROUGH ROSE & FLOWER SHOW, and if you don’t, you should! Spring is well on the way this year. Rose enthusiasts will have finished their pruning and be now agonising over families of aphids chomping those tender new shoots. It takes about 100 days from pruning to plentiful bloom production, so the Rose Show Committee ladies are looking forward to seeing plenty of entries [on Saturday November 9th, at our Town Hall.]

For those like me who find growing roses a mystery, there’s plenty of alternatives. Each year the Show has many entries of Irises, cut flowers, pot plants, fruit and veges, shrubs etc, And not to be overlooked – Floral Art classes for the creative persona within! And come on, kids – there’s a special section just for you, with prizes and a trophy to be won. … Continue Reading

Our numbers currently stand at thirty, which is about ten short of the ideal staffing level based on one night commitment per two months.  This has clearly meant more frequent patrolling, and/or some key nights not having a patrol operating. … Continue Reading

New golf clubhouse build, fund-raising up and running
