We have to stop these extravagant rate increases and cuts to essential services –which, believe me, they do happen.
I do not support the Amalgamation of the 3 Wairarapa Councils, I would like to see the Status Quo (as it is) remain!
If absolutely necessary amalgamation with Carterton but without the addition of Masterton!

We are not second class citizens! Masterton has run rough shod over us for way too long and needs to stop treating us like the poor relative.

I will do my best to encourage the council to establish and promote a youth employment scheme using the South Waikato District Council’s scheme as a model. … Continue Reading

For the past eight years my husband Frank and I have developed and operated the Martinborough Holiday Park, recently taking it into the TOP 10 marketing group. I am actively involved in local and national tourism organisations as a board member on Destination Wairarapa and as the Vice President of the Holiday Parks Association (HAPNZ). These positions have given me an excellent introduction to governance and board decision making.

Before moving to Martinborough I worked in London for a large multinational in finance and marketing roles. As a Chartered Management Accountant I’m comfortable with the numbers and have developed my people skills in management positions and as a small business owner. … Continue Reading

At an age when most people are slowing down and leaving many of the difficult issues of our times to younger generations, Geoff Sleeman has spent the last two years writing an e-book. Not only that, but the subject of his book deals with some of the most complex and contentious issues facing the human race today.

Geoff’s background is one that began in academia, with some years lecturing at university following his completion of an MSc. degree. Later he established and ran a chemical products business with another scientist. This gave him experience with international financing and trade, while war history became his hobby. … Continue Reading

Marco’s 24 hour Squash Marathon has been a great success. There was a little panic when the bridges into Martinborough were closed on Friday due to a storm, but all the players from Wellington and Masterton made it to the Squash Club to hit with Marco.

On Friday, with locals on and off the court enjoying the atmosphere, special guests, Aaron Slight, Stuart Davenport and Matt Spooner playing exciting squash and local chef Nick Arnold cooking up a feast, the club was humming and the first six hours flew by. … Continue Reading
