‘Velo fellows’ is the nickname enthusiasts bestowed on the Velocette classic motor cycle racing team which includes well known local Bill Biber as one of it’s riders. Bill has known Nick Thompson and Phil Price, the men behind the team, for around twenty years.

February 9, 2016 February 2016, Sports Comments Off on Martinborough bowls

The club finalised their first championship of 2016 on anniversary weekend with the playing of the open mens fours.

Hayden Frew, Lester Dee, Peter Ireland and Neville Smith were victorious over David Murray , Blue Hunt, Robert Murray and Tony Lee, 2-0, in the best of three game final.
Scores were tight in both games and fortune could have swung either way in both encounters. However, it was Smith and company who held their composure to hold on in each game for close wins, 12-8 and 12-9.

The club triples will be the next championship decided and results will be displayed in the next issue.

Thursday twilight bowls are back each week from 6pm and any interested people are urged to drop by and check out the format.

The club conducts a cash bar and a sausage sizzle is available for all to partake of.
