Exciting season

October 19, 2015 October 2015, Sports Comments Off on Exciting season

Exciting-seasonThe Kahutara School Year 5/6 miniball team played an awesome season this term, finishing second on the table and playing off for first and second in the finals against Greytown. They played their hearts out and put in such a strong effort, but went down 42-30. Coach Brodie Wilson said how proud of how everyone in the team has developed over the term, congratulations team!

The school’s hockey team also had a very successful season in many cases playing teams from much larger schools. As with the mini ball team they were in a finals play off, in this case against Dalefield. The game ended with a one all draw and so went into extended time, and then into nail biting sudden death goal time which saw the goal scored by Dalefield.

Following on from the success of Leonie Wilde at the national level, we have two more golfers who have featured well in NZ Golf National Competitions. Congratulations to Felicity Warren for placing 3rd nationally in the Aotearoa Cup and Jill Baker for placing 14th in the Veteran’s Cup.

August has been a busy month at the Martinborough Golf Club. A few Wednesday’s ago was the annual Combined 9 and 18 hole Ladies Day. It’s amazing what a spot of fine weather on a Wednesday does, bringing over forty players to the course. The day was most enjoyable, and it was a lovely opportunity to meet and have a conversation with both groups together in lieu of just a wave out from across the fairway. … Continue Reading
